Going Long (playlist episode #81)

"ghost in the machine" by gbmediadesign

Sharing music each week via a college radio station has a number of creative perks. Most notably, and applicable this week, is the ability to play longer tracks by artists. I have never shied away from the ten minute-plus track. In fact, truth be told, I am drawn to longer tracks. I have often felt that with some artists, the longer compositions reveal more about the artist—more colors in the music palette, a bigger sound canvas to explore, if you will, to use a couple of visual art metaphors. Over the last couple weeks I have received and/or found a fair amount of excellent music that fills the larger canvas of time. Work by the likes of Brian Eno, Adderall Canyonly, Warren Wolf filled the longer airwaves this week and dovetailed nicely with a mix of shorter tracks as well (including Radiohead's latest which has been filling my head this week, wow). Here is this week’s playlist (see below), give it a listen. Thanks!

Don't forget that you can listen to all of the music from the last episode, “Hamilton” from the comfort of your browser (click here). Thanks to everyone who shared tremendously positive feedback regarding the most recent installment of "Minus the Music" featuring my discussion with Johanna Bear about the phenomenon that is Hamilton. I hope to share more clips from live broadcasts in the future, stay tuned. In the meantime, if you missed it, you can listen to last week's conversation by clicking here. Thanks for listening! (This week's artwork, “ghost in the machine” is by yours truly.)
