I played a track from the new Birdman (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) and mentioned a bit about the process of creating the all-percussion soundtrack. You can read more about this process here.
Discovered a "new to me" radio station, WFMU out of Jersey City, NJ. They feature some really interesting music--both boundary-pushing and sonically challenging (at times) but also important works and fantastic tracks as well. A melange for sure--but in a very good way! They also provide a mobile app that makes accessing older broadcasts and shows easy. NPR posted a short-but-sweet segment,"'Voices Within The Music': A Brief History Of Guitar Effects." It features, among others, Nels Cline discussing guitar pedals and effects. It is a good listen, You can listen to it here.
