While I was away last week traipsing around New England, "Alloy" was guest-hosted by fellow WDCV DJ, Tom Wilkins, the musical mastermind of the weekly "String Theory" show (WDCV: Tuesdays 8pm-10pm). It was exciting and a real treat to turn Alloy's reins over to someone, like Tom, who has such a diverse and creative musical palette. Thank you, Tom! If you have never listened to "String Theory," I highly recommend checking it out. It is WDCV's home for experimental music, musique concrète, sound collages, and more. In fact, as it turns out, Tom will be away for a couple weeks and while he is recharging his batteries and expanding his music collection, he asked that I guest host "String Theory." What a treat! Beginning this Tuesday, I will be doing a double shot of shows--"Alloy" in the morning (9am - 11am) and "String Theory" in the evening (8pm - 10pm). While away, I received some excellent new music, which I will play during this week's "Alloy" broadcast, as well as some unexpected classics. On this week's "String Theory" broadcast I will go deeper into my collection to (hopefully) fill the airwaves with interesting sounds, textures, and melodies.
