Alloy: Episode 117

Horn-o-copia (Playlist #117)

"horn" by gbmediadesign

This week's show was a veritable horn-o-copia—featuring new and recent horn work by trumpeters Nicholas Payton and Dave Douglas, as well as the unique and blues-inspired septet sounds from the latest release by The Microscopic Septet. Space and time was also given to the Jordan Nobles composition, Immersion (Part 1-4), the recent recipient of the 2017 JUNO Award for "Classical Composition of the Year." It is featured on the latest recording by the ensemble Negative Zed.

Also, please checkout the fourth Alloy podcast episode featuring my conversation with musician and new renaissance artist, Elizabeth A. Baker. You can find all you need to know about that episode here. Lend an open ear and give it a listen. I thoroughly enjoyed my conversation with Elizabeth and hope you do as well.

Finally, don't forget that you can listen to all of the music from the last episode, “Riffing” (click here). This week's artwork, “horn” is by yours truly. Thanks for listening!
