Sinking In

While walking from the radio station this morning, post-show, I discovered this rather menacing looking tree branch. Upon further reflection and study, it pretty much epitomized this week’s show and my somber mood. Given all that is going on in the world right now, a rather menacing state of sinking in pervades many channels of our daily life. On the music side of things, and more positively speaking, this week’s show featured a number of long tracks that encouraged “sinking in” to their openness and expansiveness, hopefully giving pause—long enough to fully experience their varied sonic textures. They included new works by Cameron Graves, Elizabeth A. Baker, and a looping classic by William Basinski. New tracks by Joey DeFrancesco and favorites by New York Electric Piano and Björk also filled the airwaves. The musical palette overall was expansive and satisfying. If you caught the live show, thanks for listening! If not, checkout the playlist and listen to the tracks featured on today’s show.

Lastly, don't forget that you can listen to much of the music from the last episode, “Going long...and by the way, which one's “Pink”?” (click here). This week's artwork, “sinking in” is by yours truly.
